Amended Substitute Senate Bill 311 requires Ohio schools to implement personal financial education into high school curricula, beginning in the school year of 2010 for the class of 2014. The Teacher Academy will enable schools to offer financial education that is meaningful and compliant with the statute.
What is Teacher Academy?
The Ohio Treasury's Teacher Academy is a highly successful two-day summer workshop offered in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Council on Economic Education.
The workshop focuses on providing teachers with financial education materials and resources, along with instruction on how to engage and motivate students with an interactive curriculum.
This well-developed program utilizes public and corporate participation and support from school districts. More than 1,100 teachers have participated in these workshops since 2007.
Goal
By sharing student-friendly materials, innovative resources and instruction, the Ohio Treasury provides teachers and school officials with materials that engage students in an interactive personal finance experience they can understand.
