Robert Sprague Sworn in as Ohio’s 49th Treasurer of State

Findlay native takes oath before hometown crowd

Findlay – Robert Cole Sprague was sworn-in this evening as Ohio’s 49thTreasurer of State. The ceremony took place among family, friends and supporters at the Hancock Hotel in Findlay.
The oath of office was administered by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy. Treasurer Sprague was accompanied by his wife, Amanda, and their five children, Cole, Davis, Graham, Tate, and Mary Hannah, as well as his parents, Robert and Connie.
“I am both honored and humbled that Ohioans have entrusted me to serve in this historic office,” Treasurer Sprague said. “While the last few weeks have provided no shortage of opportunities to reflect on this journey and give thanks, now is the time to turn our vision into a reality. Today we begin working to ensure the State Treasurer’s Office serves as a vital resource in fostering a more prosperous Ohio for the generations to come.”
As Ohio’s Treasurer of State, Sprague will oversee the state’s investment and debt portfolios, domestic and international custody portfolios, as well as annual cash movements and deposits.
Treasurer Sprague’s swearing-in marks a new chapter in a public service career that began in his hometown of Findlay. Sprague previously served as both city auditor and treasurer, helping to balance city budgets and finance massive recovery efforts after historic floods and the 2008 economic recession. He most recently served as representative for Ohio’s 83rd House District where he was a leading voice on fiscal matters as a member of both the House Finance and Financial Institutions Committees.
